Lunch from 12, dinner from 5. Friday is pool, free to enter, from 6:30. Sunday the little stage out the back earns its keep.

Closed Monday and Tuesday, which is when the place takes a breath. From Wednesday the doors are open and there is a reason to come.

Parma night The week starts with a parma. Come early if you are bringing the family.
Friday 6:30pm
Pool comp Free entry. A proper Friday, mates at the table, kids still welcome earlier in the night.
Sunday 12:30pm
Live music Music in the garden while lunch is on. The easiest Sunday in the week.

Wine tour lunch Groups of 5 to 25 with Central Vic Tours. Not enough people? They will sit you with another good group.

Bring everyone. The table is long enough.

Birthdays, a fundraiser, a work lunch, a wedding feed. The beer garden, the undercover area, and rooms that can close off. Optional private bar. Catering here, or off-site from the food van.

Since 1855

Dutchy gave Axedale its local back.

Feliks Drake and three others came from Ireland and opened the tavern in 1855. Two years later it was his, and it wore the name Drakes Hotel for 98 years.

Dutchy bought the business in 2010. The building was brought up to date without losing the country bones: a coffeehouse for the town, and a beer garden for music, for kids, and for dogs. It is still a family-run local, employing locals and pouring local wine and beer.
